C&R Direct: A Family Business Since 1989
Steve Clough and Matt Robinson met in 1968 when they were just 5 years old. They grew up together, and after finishing school they both landed their first job at F & J Hauck. They qualified as welders, and worked hard at F & J Hauck for over a decade, becoming masters of their craft.
In 1989...
The guys upgraded, taking on what is now the C&R workshop space. At the time it had no roof, no electricity and no running water, but the guys worked round the clock to convert the space into a fully functioning workshop.
They ran a successful business, manufacturing railings and subcontracting for big players in the home building industry, such as Wimpey Homes and Persimmon Homes.
In 2008...
When the global recession struck, Steve and Matt sadly lost 90% of their trade business, so they made the decision to manufacture their own range of Juliet balconies and railings, and supply them directly to the public. This is when C&R Direct really found its niche…
Since then
we have helped thousands of happy customers breathe life into their homes with our fantastic products that we are truly proud of.
Fast forward to 2023
After a long, successful career in the balcony industry, the dream team downed tools and retired, allowing Steve’s capable daughter Fabienne to take over the reins.
Fabienne brings a wealth of commercial accumen to the business, having held senior positions at some of the biggest charities in the UK.
